			eTAP assists teachers in preparing their course of instruction for classroom presentation. eTAP is designed to give you quick access to all the learning resources you can use in the classroom including: Lesson Unit Plans with an outline of instructional objectives. Instruction provided in a simplified form. Teachers can use eTAP content for their own classroom instruction. They can print eTAP material to use as class handouts to supplement their class textbooks. Also, since they are online, you can recommend their use for homework to students and parents who need supplemental help. eTAP is also an excellent resource for special education, independent learning and distance learning. Links are provided that connect to other web sites with material on the same topic. Usually these Links complement the online Instructions; occasionally they comprise the Instruction itself. Often they provide interactive games and quizzes to fit each student's individual learning style. Discovery Video links are provided that are correlated to the subject material. Most students find videos to be a more exciting and engaging way to learn and are an effective way to help students with auditory or visual learning styles. Note: Access to Discovery videos must be purchased with a separate membership from United Streaming. The subscription cost for the online videos is about $1800 per high school. Many schools already have a subscription to United streaming. Practice Exercisesthat you can use as worksheet assignments for your students. A survey of eTAP students found that Practice Exercises were what they liked best. The students liked to confirm their understanding before they proceeded to a new topic. Problem Section with answers you can print out and use for student assessment. Tests which include the type of questions used on standardized exams. These tests can be used in the preparation of your own exams. They are helpful in determining which students need to review the instructional content of a Lesson Unit and which students are ready to move on to the next one. eTAP is online, so it can be used both at school and at home. When parents ask how they can help their children at home, you can recommend eTAP. Currently, eTAP users are evenly divided between teachers, students, and their parents. Each group finds eTAP helpful in a different way. Instruction Organization This curriculum is divided into Lesson Units with topics shown in a Table of Contents (TOC). Here are some ways which you can use eTAP for different grade levels. High School Grades 9-12 Online testing is provided for each Lesson Unit. Teachers can use this as part of their student assessment. Mathematics The usual sequence is Algebra I, Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra II, Statistics, and Pre-Calculus. Algebra I has 16 Lesson Units and is extended over one year of study. Each Lesson Unit may take two weeks to complete. Geometry has 16 Lesson Units and is extended over one year of study. Each Lesson Unit may take two weeks to complete. Trigonometry has seven Lesson Units and is extended over one semester of study. Each Lesson Unit may take about two weeks to complete. Algebra II has 12 Lesson Units and is extended over one year of study. Each Lesson Unit may take three weeks to complete. Statistics has nine Lesson Units and is extended over one semester of study. Each Lesson Unit may take about two weeks to complete. English (Language Arts) English has 21 Lesson Units that span the 4 years of High School. Lesson Units are identified with the grade when the content should be emphasized. Each Lesson Unit may take two weeks of study. The student should move on to a higher level as he or she proceeds to the next year of study. Science Science provides a separate subject of Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics for each of the four High School years. The subjects may be studied in any sequence, although Earth Science should be completed first. Each subject has about ten Lesson Units to be completed over the period of one school year. About 3-4 weeks should be used for each Lesson Unit. History (Social Studies) History also provides different subjects for each of the four High School years. Each grade has about ten Lesson Units to be studied over the period of one school year. About 3-4 weeks should be used for each Lesson Unit.
