eTAP.org Provides Algebra Instruction

LAGUNA BEACH, CA - September 18, 2007 - eTAP announces the use of www.etap.org for CBS bilingual education in Honduras. http://www.cofradiaschool.com/CBSetap.html

Ben Udy, Project Director, http://www.cofradiaschool.com/ben.htm said, "Having not been quite as successful as needed on our recruiting drive this year, I needed (as of today) to fill the position of teacher for a combined 7, 8, 9 grade 20 student maths classes. I decided to start with Algebra and couldn't connect to eTAP last night so the first day was a complete ad lib and gave me an almost terrifying idea of the challenge I have before me. I am so relieved that I was able to connect to eTAP this evening because in about 30 minutes I found and printed out enough material to both assess all the students individually and be able to take each and every one of them on a learning adventure in Algebra. With the help of www.etap.org , I can significantly raise their individual levels of both understanding and skill in this very important area of mathematics. I will be able to give each of them a challenge regardless of their current understanding of Algebra and be able to hand a complete individual assessment package over to the next maths teacher or the next volunteer who arrives.

One of the things that impresses me most about the 75 page "Multi-grade Algebra teachers handbook" that I found on eTAP is the variety of sources the information available at www.etap.org. Making eTAP much more functional as a tool for reaching children of different learning styles, levels and abilities than any single Algebra text book, than I have ever seen. I don't know how many traditional text books I would have needed, to at least scan, to find the range of information and different ways of approaching the subject. I am completely convinced that it would have taken days instead of minutes. I would definitely not be able to walk into class tomorrow with full plan and something for everyone to work on, from students who stare blankly at X-3=7 to students who are fully ready for solving complex word problems in their second language using Algebra. WOW and thank you once again.”

www.eTAP.org is a website that provides easy access to K-12 resources that satisfy each student's learning style. eTAP’s comprehensive recourses include: instructional text, assessments, practice exercises, worksheets, interactive games and videos.

www.eTAP.org is currently being used by about 50 public schools in the USA and 1000 Homeschoolers worldwide. For more information contact eTAP, Inc., 2260 Park Ave., Laguna Beach, CA 92651 USA. Telephone (949) 497-2200. E-mail, www.eTAP.org

eTAP.org Provides Education Resources to Bilingual School in Honduras
"it is cost less to print from www.etap.org than sending donated books from the US."

LAGUNA BEACH, CA - September 15, 2007 - eTAP announces the use of www.etap.org for CBS bilingual education in Honduras. http://www.cofradiaschool.com/CBSetap.html

Cofradia's Bilingual School (CBS) in Honduras is a nonprofit bilingual school serving the community of Cofradia since 1997. Cofradia (or "brotherhood") is a small town just west of San Pedro Sula in Honduras. CBS actively seeks disadvantaged children and provides them with a quality bilingual education, hence a much brighter future. They have almost 300 students enrolled and over 1/3 of them are receiving scholarship assistance. http://www.cofradiaschool.com/index.html

Ben Udy, Project Director, http://www.cofradiaschool.com/ben.htm said, "I find that the www.etap.org web site is really easy to navigate and I am very impressed with its layout and function... Our situation here is that the children often don't fit "normal grade" standards and we need to find relevant work at lower grade levels for many of them, especially the ones who have recently joined our school. One of the most advantageous features of eTAP as opposed to regular grade level text books is that we can custom tailor our lessons so effectively. I think we might find that the suggested grade levels become much less relevant, the more eTAP gets used by non US students and schools. As you have mentioned previously, eTAP can effectively replace most text books and can also be used to produce special custom made texts for particular classes. I can see the day coming when eTAP (and there may be some competition by then) will be the standard way for all schools to develop and deliver their curriculum. We are really incredibly glad that we found you on the net when we did.

Blaise and the rest of the eTAP team have developed an Internet-based complete school curriculum that allows each individual student to work at their own pace and also gives teachers access to all the required material that they need in teaching any grade level from Kindergarten to US 12th grade. It gives schools the ability to save substantially on the purchase of printed material and therefore should also allow them to increase their computer budget. Actually it costs less to print text from www.etap.org than to pay for sending donated books from the US."

eTAP.org Preparation Course Boosts CAHSEE Pass Rates

"7 of our 8 senior students in our alternative education program passed the CAHSEE after using eTAP. " - Randy Reid, Chaparral High School, El Cajon , CA

"The most daunting hurdle for high school students is the CAHSEE.  This is particularly true in a continuation high school.  As the math and science teacher at Del Rey Continuation School in West Los Angeles I have found that the eTAP program is invaluable.  The students can operate eTAP with a minimum of instruction and supervision.  The eTAP program is thorough and quick with feedback.  With this program I have increased my CAHSEE success rate from 15% first time pass to 35% first time pass." Bill Pray, Del Rey Continuation High School Teacher, LA

"My students are enthusiastic about studying for the CAHSEE because of the set-up of the eTAP website. This is so much better than standardized text books because it is so interactive."
Michael Crumrine, 11th grade teacher, Truth High School, LAUSD

A few of the LA Clubs are using Prop 49 funds to contract with eTAP for the program. You can allocate it as a program expense! Also, it is soooo easy to use. eTAP Announces New Online CoursesTo Help Students Pass Their GED, SAT or HSEE Exams

eTAP, the non-profit on-line education service, announces the addition of 3 new courses specifically designed to prepare students for the HSEE (High School Exit Exam), SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and GED (General Educational Diploma) exams. These courses are available online at www.etap.org. The cost is just $399 a year or $39 per month and includes unlimited use of eTAP's regular K-12 curriculum.

Each course provides a list of test topics directly connected to the appropriate eTAP Instruction. Included are about 50,000 pages of instruction and practice exercises for Mathematics, English, Science and History. Pre-test and post-test questions and answers are provided so that students can practice to increase their test scores. Students can also access a free demo by going to the www.etap.org web site and clicking on the eTAP Smart Button.

eTAP has provided online instruction since June of 2000. It has completed about 200,000 pages of curriculum. The program emphasizes individual learning so that each student can proceed at his or her own pace and work in his or her own learning style.  All content is aligned with state standards and satisfies the No Child Left Behind requirements. eTAP users are divided among teachers, students and parents and the program has found enthusiastic users in Public, Charter and Home Schools.

Here are some comments from eTAP subscribers:

Homeschoolers
Lisa Jackson, Arbor Academy.com says. "eTAP is a great resource for the independent study student. Children are given the power to progress incrementally through core subject grade appropriate material, or move ahead at their readiness. Success with eTAP increases the students' belief in their own abilities."

Connie McGowan of Barstow, CA, Homeschools three children, who are in grades 2, 4 and 7.   She writes, "We have been Homeschooling for 20+ years and this is a great site…one of the best sites for Homeschoolers I have ever seen. I have tried K12 and several others, but for my money this is far superior."

"I will be updating our web site in the next few days," says Becky Livingston, Vice Chairman, Christian Homeschool of Idaho State. "I will gladly add a link to your site. It is a great resource."

"High School Prep Math is terrific, especially for the audio learner or students with poor eyesight," notes Ann Zeise of A to Z Home's Cool Homeschooling. "This pre-algebra course has been written with streaming audio lessons, practice sheets and quizzes. It moves fast, so it's good for review as well."

Public School Teachers
Patricia Noonan, science teacher at Pomona High School in California, says, "I am using eTAP to design test questions and lesson plans. I intend to have my students use your site as a lecture-note resource.

"eTAP has provided me with excellent supplemental materials for the science and math courses that I teach. I also use eTAP as a tutorial for students by distributing the URL at the start of a semester and recommending that students access this site if they have trouble understanding certain concepts," writes Kelly Gaughan of Futures High School in Oceanside, CA.

"I will be teaching two Language Arts intervention classes next year - one class for third graders and the other for fourth and fifth graders. Half my students will be English-language learners and the other half will be at-risk English-only children. I was happy to find your web site and will consult it for materials and for Spanish translations that parents can use to better understand what is being taught." commented Sharon Regalado.
